The 2008 Global Financial Crisis led to the gradual – almost imperceptible – yet deep-seated changes in the global financial system. Creeping regulations and increasing transparency will do to finance what the internet has done to retailing. Bank services, market dynamics and investment strategies will change forever and economic growth may remain stalled until new technologies take root. In the financial sector, cryptocurrencies, data applications, AI and the blockchain will bring financial services down to the level of the individual forcing banks into a different and smaller role. Who will be the winners and losers in the new era and how can we profit on these new trends?

Peter Kurz 谷月涵
Former Managing Director and Head of Taiwan Country Research at Citigroup Global Markets Taiwan Securities
Peter Kurz recently retired from Citigroup Global Markets Taiwan Securities where he served as a Managing Director and Head of Taiwan Country Research since 2006 and more recently as chairman of CGMTS. Since 2012, Peter also initiated coverage of the budding Taiwan biotech and pharma sector being the first foreign analyst to do so.
Prior to that, Peter worked as Head of Taiwan Corporate Finance at BNP Paribas and Head of Taiwan Research for Merrill Lynch and Baring Securities before that. Peter also briefly ran his own business, Insight Pacific, from 2000-2004. He is currently been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer of QIC and is currently co-founding a start-up blockchain-based company.
Peter has too been a longstanding columnist in Taiwan, writing consistently since the mid-1990s for Wealth Magazine (財訊) and Business Today (今周刊).
