Spotlight on Resilience:
FBI & Cyber Security

In response to members’ requests in a recent survey for briefings from U.S. and Taiwan authorities to help them deal with Cross-Strait challenges impacting the business environment, AmCham Taiwan is launching a new webinar series, “Spotlight on Resilience.” Reference materials and helpful links will also be available under that tab on our website. To maximize participation, most briefings will take place via Webex.

The second webinar invites Bill Baoerjin and James Yu from Legal Liaison Office, AIT to share the cyber security issues which help us identify tools and tactics to enhance AmCham members’ resilience.

Speakers: 

Bill Baoerjin / Liaison Officer, Legal Liaison Office from AIT 

Mr. Baoerjin entered on duty as an FBI special agent in 2005 and was assigned to the Los Angeles Field Office (LAFO) where he worked cybercrime matters. He was also a member of the LAFO Special Weapons and Tactics Team. In July 2011, Mr. Baoerjin was promoted to FBI Headquarters as a supervisory special agent (SSA). In October 2015, he was again promoted to FBI Headquarters as a senior liaison officer. In July 2017, Mr. Baoerjin was named SSA in charge of the cyber investigations at FBI Sacramento.
Mr. Baoerjin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering, followed by a Master’s Degree in Science and Technology Intelligence with an emphasis in cybersecurity. He also attended Pepperdine University for Master in Business Administration. Mr. Baoerjin holds many cybersecurity certifications to include Certified Information Systems Security Professional. He is a Chinese mandarin speaker. He was the recipient of FBI Director’s Award, ODNI Director’s Award, and NCIS Meritorious Unit Commendation. Prior to the FBI, he worked as an electrical engineer and as a sheriff deputy with Orange County, CA. Mr. Baoerjin reported to Taipei in June 2022.

James Yu / Liaison Officer, Legal Liaison Office from AIT 

Special Agent(SA)James Yu joined the FBI in 2009. He was assigned to FBI Los Angeles Field Office Cyber Squad focused on state sponsored cyber intrusion investigations. In 2015, SA Yu became a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) assigned to Cyber Division at the FBI Headquarters where he managed and coordinated Advance Persistent Threat (APT) investigations and operations with FBI Field Offices. In 2016, as part of the Operation Avalanche, SSA Yu traveled to Taiwan, in collaboration with Taiwan Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB), he disrupted and sinkholed over 28,000 malicious domains. In Jan 2022, SSA Yu was selected to be the Cyber Assistant Legal Liaison Officer for the FBI Legal Liaison Office in Taipei.
