Powerful Storytelling: Step-by-Step Guide to Get Others to Listen, Believe, and Act on Your Message

EVENT RESCHEDULE & VENUE UPDATED

AmCham Advanced Learning Lab Seminar

Are you in situations at work where you do not have the authority to insist that others listen to your idea—such as when sharing your business strategy with your regional and global bosses? Or are you in situations where, even when you have the authority, using it will backfire—such as when you need to get your people to coach and develop their team members? In such situations, how do you get others to deeply listen, accept what you are saying, and act on your suggestion?
Research after research shows that the most effective way is storytelling. And while most people know that storytelling is the most effective approach, very few people know how to tell insightful stories. Most people invariably end up informing and instructing. It happens because of the knowing-doing gap. It’s not sufficient to know that we need to tell stories. What we need is a structured process.

That’s what this seminar will provide. Using real-world cases and hands-on practice, you will learn to apply a three-step process for transforming any business information into a powerful story.

Seminar Agenda

  1. How informing and instructing is different from storytelling
  2. Why stories work: Research on their impact on our brains and bodies
  3. Group discussion using a real business case
  4. Hands-on practice applying a three-step process for crafting stories
  5. Feedback from the speaker and other participants
