Company Description:

The British Office was established in 1993 to promote the UK’s commercial and bilateral interests in Taiwan. A key objective is to increase business relationships between the UK and Taiwan, working in partnership with Department for International Trade (DIT).

DIT is responsible for promoting British trade across the world and ensuring the UK takes advantage of the huge opportunities open to UK businesses by

  • developing, coordinating and delivering a new trade and investment policy to promote UK business across the globe.
  • negotiating plurilateral trade deals (focused on specific sectors or products)
  • providing operational support for exports and facilitating inward & outward investment

The British Office and DIT help UK companies on the exporting journey. The latest figures available for UK trade and services export to Taiwan show a rise of 2.3% y-o-y in 2014, reached their second-highest level at £1.9 billion; and total bilateral trade was £5.8 billion.   .

We also offer professional and personalised assistance to help Taiwanese companies locate and expand in the UK. Over 180 Taiwanese companies, including the Evergreen Group, Acer, HTC, and Mediatek, have a presence in the UK, which serves as a springboard for global growth. Around 300 UK companies are located in Taiwan in sectors as varied as financial services, ICT, environmental technology, infrastructure, and the creative industries.
