Sustainability is a political challenge and a broad issue for business and economic growth in Taiwan. Our mission is to maintain a sustainable business environment and society in Taiwan by addressing issues of safety, health, environmental stewardship, energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy, product stewardship, regulatory compliance, and corporate social responsibility.
Our committee will continue to engage with key stakeholders and provide business input to relevant regulatory parties, and encourage AmCham members to support Taiwan sustainability efforts.
Anticipate issues on which technical or policy support may be needed and prepare tools/materials that may apply.
Proactively engage committee members in developing essential advocacy tools and in participating/speaking on behalf of AmCham’s efforts at business events.
Ensure coordination with other AmCham committees. Because all sustainability initiatives are external to government regulatory processes, it is imperative that this committee builds relationships with key AmCham committee leaders and members.
White Paper preparedness Consolidate our committee’s input on sustainability issues as part of the annual AmCham White Paper.
Sustainability Activities Plan and schedule annual activities(forums, events, outings) to promote sustainability concepts within AmCham, regulatory parties, NGOs, and any interested parties.
A risk informed framework for the development and evolution of product and business sustainability efforts.
Position AmCham SDC as the “go-to” business resource for technical information and contacts concerning sustainability.
When large companies take action on sustainability issues, their program development and outcomes are more favorable, i.e. their actions are science-based, consistent with AmCham’s business management principles(if any), and have less negative impact on Taiwan businesses.
Scale up and speed up the development of renewable energy in Taiwan, especially in the area of offshore wind power.
Offer more incentives to promote the use of recycled building materials, or set mandatory usage by public buildings.
