Welcome to AmCham Taiwan
Advocacy. Information. Networking.
Advocacy. Information. Networking.
“AmCham works to improve the business environment in Taiwan, making it more open, innovative, and prosperous for all companies that want to be globally competitive. The organization also serves as a vital bridge between the U.S. and Taiwan.”
The American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (台灣美國商會 ) is the most impactful and influential international business organization in Taiwan, with about 1,200 members from more than 580 companies in the global business community. Many members have been in Taiwan for decades and are deeply vested in the economy’s success. Founded in 1951, the organization drives innovation with advocacy, networking, and information sharing. AmCham Taiwan cares deeply about innovation, competitiveness, efficient governance, democracy, and stability.
Our extensive membership is the Chamber’s greatest asset. The knowledge and expertise of this vast resource is tapped through a variety of interactive forums. AmCham coordinates the activities of 25 industry committees that address advocacy issues and provide opportunities for professional and business development. See our full list of committees. AmCham works to strengthen the international business community with events that create valuable opportunities to network and share information. AmCham creates content – such as the monthly TOPICS magazine, White Paper and Business Climate Survey – that helps business leaders become better informed about Taiwan.
Committee members collaborate on formulating annual position papers (Taiwan White Paper), used for communicating industry concerns to relevant government agencies. The position papers are also valuable advocacy tools for AmCham’s annual “Doorknock” trip to Washington. On that trip each Summer, an AmCham delegation meets with senior officials in the U.S. Administration and on Capitol Hill to discuss international business concerns about U.S.-Taiwan trade and commerce. All members are invited and encouraged to participate in this crucial dialogue.
While AmCham serves the broader interests of international business, Chamber membership is also an important means of personal integration into life and business in Taiwan. Every month, the Chamber offers a variety of luncheon and breakfast meetings and seminars on subjects of particular interest to our membership.
Speakers regularly include world-renowned economists and politicians, management gurus and academic experts. More importantly perhaps, these events provide the opportunity for meaningful interaction among AmCham members and a basis for broadening contacts within Taiwan’s business community.
AmCham is also an important information clearinghouse that provides an insider’s perspective on Taiwan’s marketplace. The Chamber’s flagship publication, Taiwan Business TOPICS magazine, published monthly, includes year-round business reporting and policy analysis in support of Chamber advocacy issues. TOPICS has become the definitive voice on the business climate in Taiwan to executives, government officials, the media and academics. The magazine enjoys wide distribution to prominent officials, elected representatives, and think tanks in the United States and Taiwan. The June issues contains the annual White Paper.
Additional publications, a comprehensive website, and regular email announcements keep members in the know on all developments affecting Taiwan’s business environment.
AmCham is committed to meeting the changes and challenges of the future with innovation and insight – and it considers the key to achieving this goal to be the active involvement of the membership. AmCham encourages and empowers its members to join in the task of building a strong, vital international business environment in Taiwan.
