AmCham Highlights Taiwan as a “Global Trust Hub,” Calls for Deeper U.S.–Taiwan Alignment at 2026 Hsieh Nien Fan

TAIPEI, Taiwan – As the world adjusts to new geopolitical realities, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (AmCham Taiwan) highlighted Taiwan’s emergence as a “Global Trust Hub” for AI-driven innovation and resilient supply chains, while urging faster progress on key regulatory priorities.
The message was delivered at AmCham Taiwan’s 58th annual Hsieh Nien Fan banquet, held on March 26 at the Taipei Marriott Hotel.
“Taiwan is not just navigating global change – it is helping define it,” said AmCham Taiwan Chairperson Anita Chen, highlighting Taiwan’s role as a trusted hub where advanced technologies are developed, secured, and scaled with confidence.
She noted that sustaining this momentum will require faster progress in three priority areas: extending Taiwan’s leadership in the AI value chain, strengthening energy security through diversified international partnerships, and advancing a digital-century economic framework that keeps pace with innovation.
“Confidence must be matched by direction and partnership,” Chen said, adding that regulatory systems must evolve alongside technological change to sustain Taiwan’s competitiveness and attractiveness for global investment. Moreover, AmCham encourages the Taiwan Government to build on its efforts to ensure the stability of energy supply and pricing. A reliable, predictable, and resilient energy system underpins long-term, shared prosperity.
Delivering the evening’s keynote remarks, President Lai Ching-te highlighted the administration’s commitment to strengthening Taiwan’s economic resilience and investment environment.
“Today’s Taiwan is more than just a manufacturing base for chips and components,” Lai said. “Thanks to the trust we built from our adherence to democratic values, Taiwan has become a pro-active contributor to global economic development and a co-builder of global supply chain resilience.”
President Lai added that “Taiwan and the U.S. are more than just trade partners – we invest in each other, we innovate together, and we jointly maintain economic security.”
In his remarks, Director Raymond F. Greene of the American Institute in Taiwan spoke about a “new golden age” in U.S.-Taiwan economic relations, highlighting the rising two-way trade and investment and closer cooperation in advanced technologies. His remarks focused on U.S. support for Taiwan’s security and energy resilience, expanding Taiwanese investment in the United States, growing defense industrial opportunities, and people-to-people ties.
Marking AmCham Taiwan’s 75th anniversary and key U.S. and Taiwan democratic milestones, Greene underscored that the relationship is grounded in shared ideals and poised for even deeper partnership.
AmCham was also honored to receive special video remarks from U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who told guests that the bilateral relationship between the United States and Taiwan “has strong bipartisan support in Congress.”
Shaheen, who is a Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, highlighted ongoing congressional efforts to establish a tax agreement with Taiwan, a longstanding priority for AmCham. “The goal is simple – to make it easier for companies to do business in the United States and Taiwan,” she said.
This year’s Hsieh Nien Fan was attended by approximately 770 members and guests, including more than 120 government officials. The annual banquet serves as a key platform for engagement between Taiwan’s public and private sectors and the international business community.
As AmCham Taiwan marks its 75th anniversary, the Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to turning dialogue into action and partnership into progress, supporting a future that is prosperous, resilient, and grounded in trust.
