AmCham Taiwan Welcomes Carl Wegner as New President
MAY 5, 2025 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Carl Wegner as its new President, effective today. The decision follows a rigorous, competitive search process led by the Chamber’s Board of Governors.
Wegner brings more than three decades of leadership experience in trade finance, fintech innovation, and banking across the region. His distinguished career has included senior roles at global institutions such as Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered, and leadership positions in cutting-edge fintech firms including R3 and Contour, where he served as CEO until early 2024.
“We are excited about the vision and energy Carl brings to AmCham Taiwan,” said AmCham Chairperson Dan Silver. “Under Carl’s guidance, we are confident that the Chamber will continue to thrive and grow, fostering new opportunities for our member companies and further elevating the U.S.-Taiwan economic partnership.”
Wegner previously served on the AmCham Board of Governors from 2009 to 2012, including as Treasurer from 2010 to 2012. He has also been an active member of the broader Taipei community, serving on the board of the Taipei American School and teaching as an adjunct professor at National Chengchi University.
Originally from New Jersey, Wegner holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese and Asian Studies from Georgetown University and is fluent in Mandarin. He first lived in Taiwan in the early 1980s as a student at National Taiwan Normal University and has remained closely connected to the island throughout his professional life.
“I am honored to take on this role at such an important time for U.S.-Taiwan business relations,” said Wegner. “Taiwan continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation on the global stage. I look forward to working with our members, partners, and stakeholders to deepen our engagement, expand trade and investment, and highlight Taiwan’s indispensable role in the global economy.”

台灣美國商會歡迎魏凱 (Carl Wegner) 先生接任執行長
台灣美國商會宣布，由魏凱 (Carl Wegner) 先生接任執行長一職，並於今日正式生效。此人事任命是經由理事會所進行的嚴謹遴選程序所拍板定案。
魏凱在亞太地區擁有超過三十年的資深領導經驗，涵蓋貿易金融、金融科技創新及銀行領域。曾在德意志銀行、渣打銀行等國際金融機構擔任要職，並曾擔任 R3 及 Contour 等金融科技公司的高階主管，直至 2024 年初卸下 Contour 執行長職務。
「我們對 Carl 帶來的願景與活力充滿期待。」台灣美國商會理事長 Dan Silver表示，「在他的帶領下，我們深信商會將持續成長茁壯，為會員企業開創更多機會，並進一步強化美台經濟夥伴關係。」
魏凱曾於 2009 至 2012 年期間擔任本會理事，並於 2010 至 2012 年間出任財務長。他長期參與台北地區事務，曾任台北美國學校董事會成員，也在國立政治大學擔任兼任教授。
出生於美國紐澤西州，魏凱畢業於喬治城大學，主修中文與亞洲研究，並精通中文。早在 1980 年代初期，他曾於台灣師範大學就讀，並始終與台灣保持密切連結。
「很榮幸能在這個美台關係格外關鍵的時刻擔任執行長。」魏凱說道，「台灣持續在國際舞台展現出強大的韌性與創新力。我期待與會員企業、合作夥伴與各界攜手，深化交流、推動貿易與投資，並讓世界看見台灣在全球經濟中的關鍵角色。」
