AmCham Taiwan Welcomes Implementation of U.S.-Taiwan Trade Agreement

The American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan applauds the enactment of the first agreement under the U.S. Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade, effective December 10. This landmark agreement encompasses critical areas such as good regulatory practices (GRP), anti-corruption, customs administration, and trade facilitation, marking a significant advancement in U.S.-Taiwan economic relations.
Insights from AmCham Taiwan’s 2023 Business Climate Survey underscore the importance of this development. The survey found that 64% of respondents consider the agreement vital to their business operations. In the technology sector, 77% of respondents found the agreement to be important.
AmCham Taiwan is particularly encouraged by the agreement’s emphasis on good regulatory practices, which was found by 58% of Business Climate Survey respondents to be the most crucial aspect of the agreement.
“We anticipate that the GRP chapter will foster sustained attention and public engagement in the rulemaking process, leading to a more transparent and predictable regulatory framework,” said AmCham Chairperson Dan Silver. “As a pertinent stakeholder, the Chamber hopes to be able contribute the views of our membership to the review process.”
AmCham Taiwan now eagerly awaits agreements from the second round of negotiations under the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade. The Chamber stands ready to provide insights and support to ensure these upcoming agreements address the priorities of the business community and continue to strengthen U.S.-Taiwan economic collaboration.

台灣美國商會讚揚《臺美貿易協議》正式生效
台灣美國商會（AmCham Taiwan）對於《臺美21世紀貿易倡議》的首項協定於12月10日正式生效，表示高度讚揚。此項協議被視為具有指標性意義，涵蓋了良好法制作業（GRP, Good Regulatory Practices）、反貪腐、關務行政、及貿易便捷化等重要項目，象徵著台美經濟關係的一大進展。
根據美國商會2023年《商業景氣調查報告》的調查結果，此項發展對於商界而言具有重大意義。調查顯示，64% 的受訪者認為該協議對其業務運作至關重要；而在科技產業中，則有77% 的受訪者認為該協議十分重要。
美國商會對協議中強調良好法制作業尤感欣慰。根據《商業景氣調查報告》，有58% 的受訪者認為這是該協議中最重要的部分。
美國商會理事長 Dan Silver 表示：「我們期待良好法制作業章節進在立法過程中，得到持續的關注與公眾參與，從而建立更加透明且可預測的法規框架。身為重要的利害相關方，商會希望能將會員的意見在審查過程中納入參考。」
