AmCham Taiwan Welcomes Patrick P. Lin as New President

TAIPEI, Taiwan – The American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (AmCham Taiwan) is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick P. Lin as its new President. With an exemplary track record of fostering economic growth and business innovation, Mr. Lin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise of diversified industries and sectors to the role. Notably, Lin was a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, where he spearheaded key initiatives at several government agencies and served as a thought leader across a wide array of policies and issues.

The Board of Governors looks forward to Mr. Lin’s visionary leadership in advancing the interests of the Chamber’s members, promoting U.S.-Taiwan economic relations and furthering the important role Taiwan plays on the global stage.

Vincent Shih, AmCham Chairperson, stated, “AmCham Taiwan recognizes that the world is undergoing profound transformations, characterized by an evolving geopolitical landscape and unprecedented technological advancements. Amid these challenges, Taiwan stands as a beacon of innovation, resilience, and economic vitality. As the new President, Patrick will champion the interests of AmCham Taiwan’s diverse membership, facilitating stronger cooperation between American, Taiwanese, and global businesses, governments, and communities. His exceptional leadership qualities and deep understanding of both the local and global landscape will undoubtedly contribute to shaping a brighter future for all stakeholders.”

At the same time, the Chamber thanks Ms. Amy Chang for stepping in as interim President and recognizes the many contributions she made over a productive six months. Mr. Shih commented, “On behalf of the Board of Governors, I want to thank Ms. Amy Chang for her steadfast leadership as the interim President for this past half year. We are also pleased to announce that Amy will be staying on as a Senior Advisor on Sustainability.” Mr. Lin will work closely with Ms. Chang to continue AmCham Taiwan’s tradition of excellence on the many initiatives the Chamber is advancing.

On his appointment, Mr. Lin remarked, “It is an immense honor to take on the role of President of AmCham Taiwan during this extraordinary period of historic significance. As I grew up in Taiwan, this homecoming carries a deep sense of purpose. Taiwan’s remarkable achievements in innovation, trade, and democratic governance have garnered global recognition. I am excited to lead AmCham in further promoting the dynamic relationship between American and Taiwanese businesses and to advocate for Taiwan’s indispensable role in the world. Together, we will foster an environment that encourages collaboration, spurs economic growth, and showcases Taiwan as a model of success.”

Mr. Lin has had a storied career spanning technology startups, multinational corporations, and governments across Asia and the United States. As a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, he spearheaded policy and projects across numerous agencies, including NASA, Department of Transportation, and many others. Previously, Mr. Lin was an executive at Ford, where he led the automaker’s autonomous driving division in Asia. As a successful serial entrepreneur, Mr. Lin has been a leader at the forefront of innovation. Mr. Lin completed his graduate studies at MIT as an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow and his undergraduate degree at the University of California (Berkeley and San Diego).
