AmCham Taipei Announces Name Change to AmCham Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Effective January 1^st, 2021, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei will be using its new name, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan. The year 2021 also marks the Chamber’s 70^th anniversary in Taiwan and AmCham continues to be a vital bridge between the United States and Taiwan.

The name change reflects the reality of both the Chamber’s activities and its membership, most of whom operate throughout Taiwan. The change also reflects AmCham’s scope of work as our White Paper, as well as the vast majority of our governmental interaction occurs at the central government level. Likewise, our old name always caused confusion during our door-knocks to Washington where some were not aware that we represent American firms throughout Taiwan, not just in Taipei.

Despite the difficulties COVID has brought, the Chamber will continue to be an essential bridge between the US and Taiwan. Working with our members, and the US and Taiwan governments, we will continue to build on Taiwan’s stability and economic prosperity. We wish you all a healthy, happy, and successful 2021.
