The company established a presence in Taiwan in 1989. At the beginning, it introduced only three brands to the Taiwan market: Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Aramis. Because the first English letter in the name of the three brands can be abbreviated as ELCA, ELCA became the company name of the Taiwan Branch.
